First of all where did January go? Can we all agree that with a blink of an eye it was over? Anyway, I learned a valuable lesson just a few days before the month ended. Honesty with self is a great self-care practice, one we often overlook. Here's what I took from this lesson.
I could keep on at the rate I am going or I can be honest with self about the fact that I need to slow down.
I honestly don't want to because I believe the rate I am going is just fine. Until I find myself in ER or urgent care in pain or I am relying on pain meds to get by.
So the journey of being honest with self must begin now. A lot of us will find ourselves in a similar situation and let me tell you IT'S NOT EASY BEING HONEST WITH YOURSELF. But not being honest is detrimental to yourself. (in my case my health).
What does being honest look like to you? For me, it is saying to self...
"Ashli you have degenerative joint disease, it does not have you. A diagnosis is not your destiny it's just something to consider on your journey"
Honestly, writing that here is hard but it helps. What can you do today that will help you start to live your very best life? For me honestly, it's being honest with self about the things I have to consider on this journey of life.
